The person of the month is a famous American athlete,
Florence Griffith-Joyner who was known as Flo-Jo. Her best event is that she is
the fastest woman on earth and still holds the world record for both the 100
and 200 meters set in 1988. Unluckily, epilepsy stopped her career at the age
of 38. As for awards Flo-Jo won a gold medal in the 100 m final and a silver
medal in the 200 m quarter final in 1988 Summer Olympics. In addition to
athletics, Flo-Jo was engaged in designing the basketball uniforms for the
Indiana Pacers in 1989. She was accused of using performance-enhancing drugs
like steroid but autopsy records showed that she died because of epilepsy at
the age of 38. Flo-Jo suddenly retired at the age of 29 for acting, writing,
fashion and designing. In 1990, she gave birth to a daughter. Finally, I should
say that Griffith is my favorite female sports person.
